If you happened to pick up on the sneak-peak last night, then you know the basic premise for this post. I was incredibly lucky yesterday to find a way to finally get the cabinetry in my dining room that I’ve been longing for. I was pricing the lumber to do it myself, and it really was absurd to spend that much on my first building project in such a visible area…I would be bound not to mess it up, and I probably would.

So, when I found a three-piece entertainment center at Goodwill for a great deal, I knew I could re-purpose the side units into the shelving that I was looking for.

Two trips home with these big-boys in the trunk, and I was ready to paint.

Step 1—I washed the dust off with a de-greaser and a microfiber cloth.

Step 2–I removed the hardware, doors, and shelves.

Step 3–I then did a quick priming coat with Bher 2 in 1 on sides, tops, and bottoms of the things.

Step 4–Derek helped me tape off around the glass in the big doors. Then, I painted a coat of paint around all the edges using a purdy 2″ brush, including all the edges around the trim work and creases in the framing.

Step 5–I covered the entire group of items in two more coats of paint with a small roller, so that everything has the same finish.

Derek then helped me move the cabinets into the house and reattach the doors and hardware,starting with the shelves and ending with the doors. I also replaced the door pulls.
